Ann and Jackie founded Avalon in 1997 inside a converted storefront on Cass Corridor in Detroit with three things in mind: Earth, Community, and Employees. They have since grown into a well-known “Top 100 Inner City Business in the US” by offering artisan baked goods using 100% organic flour. In Detroit, Ann and Jackie saw an opportunity for a small business to grow food in vacant lots, provide jobs and delicious goods, a space for artists to thrive, and a community of neighbors rebuilding and renewing the spirit of the Motor City. Avalon’s vision of an “Agri-Urban” business is joined by the West Willis Street Midtown Shops and has sustainability and community at its core. Their mission: Eat Well. Do Good.
